Lent Wednesday Suppers: Soup and Buns at 6pm at Emmanuel

Staff at Emmanuel and several members have been blessed with several invitations to share Iftar with Muslim friends over the last few weeks. Our pastor, Laura, brought with her a longlasting engagement with the Intercultural Dialog Institute Calgary: a non-profit organization whose purpose is to advance social cohesion via (through) personal interaction by promoting respect and mutual understanding among people of all cultures and faiths  With Ramadan and Lent overlapping this year, we had a valuable opportunity to share perspectives on fasting and self-denial; but more importantly it was a chance to create and grow friendships between individuals and understanding between cultures.

Ramadan ended on Saturday, but Lent still has a couple of weeks to go. Here at Emmanuel we are sharing a simple supper of soup and buns on Wednesday nights in Lent, followed by a short recounting by one of our members of their personal faith story. Our community meals are always open to anyone who cares to join us.
