Vision & Beliefs
Our Purpose… is to reach out and guide people to Jesus.
What We Believe
We believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Our beliefs come from
- Scripture alone: The Bible is our highest authority.
- Faith alone: Nothing we do can save us from our sins: only faith in Jesus can save us.
- Grace alone: Having faith isn’t something we did: faith is something that God freely gives.
- Christ alone: God has revealed God’s nature to us uniquely through the person of Jesus Christ.
- To the glory of God alone!
The Latin word for “alone” is “sola”, so these five principles are sometimes called “the Lutheran Solas” and are summed up as Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Solus Christus, and Soli Deo Gloria.
Together, we are the Church
The church exists where the Word of God is present: the Word made flesh, Jesus Christ; the Word proclaimed through the preaching of the Gospel and through the celebration of the sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion; and the witness to the Word that we find in the Bible. We interpret the Bible in the light of the Lutheran Confessions found in the Book of Concord. As members of the Church, we are sent out by the Holy Spirit to minister to one another and to our neighbours in the world around us.
